Even considering the quality of modern engine oils, it can be argued that VW and Audi scheduled oil change recommendation of 15,000km are spaced too far apart. That is why we at German OEM recommend that your engine oil and filter should be changed at between 6,000km and 8,000km.

There is some overlap between the use of the 034115561A, the 06A115561B, and 068115561B oil filters. The 034115561A was first introduced used on the early 5cyl turbo engines. It was later replaced by the 06A115561B, which was used on many VAG 4cyl engines, including the 1.8T. Due to sludging issues, VW and Audi then recommended that the 068115561B filter from the early mk1 diesel engines be used instead to prevent sludging in the Passat and A4.
