The rear wiper arm on the mk5 GTI, Rabbit, R32, and B6 Passat Wagon is prone to cracking where it is pressed onto the wiper motor shaft. When this happens, the wiper will either not move, move jerkily, or flop down. Replacement is quick and easy, and can be done with a ratchet, 13mm socket, and a little patience.
