When you press the fuel door button, the electric actuator briefly pulls the rod out of the fuel door, allowing access to the fuel filler. If you can hear the actuator, but your fuel door doesn't open, and your diagnosis has determined that the actuator is undamaged, this release rod kit may be what you need.
