Your vehicles' breather valve (AKA bleeder valve) vents oil- and moisture-saturated crankcase air out of the engine, and into the air intake. Oil is separated out and left inside the engine, keeping all moving parts lubricated. The oil-laden air goes through the combustion process, and gets filtered through the catalytic convertor, minimizing exhaust emissions.

A failed breather valve can cause a number of performance issues for your vehicle, so if yours has quit, replace it with this valve from aftermarket supplier Topran.
