Cam seals wear out over time, and should be replaced when they do to keep your engine oil free of external debris. Some engine designs make replacement more involved than others, but if you’re planning on having the timing belt changed, getting to the seals is much easier.

This Elring or Reinz 32x47x10mm seal has a metal spring on the inner lip to provide a better seal against the cam. It is different from the 038103085C Teflon seal that can only be used on right-rotation cams, and 028103086A Teflon seal that can only be used on left-rotation cams. Ensure that you are ordering the correct seal for your application.
